But that beauty was not restricted to the balcony view. I got up the next morning at 6:00, for my first class, standing outside the girls’ dorm breathing in the cool early fall air, the moon was like a spotlight on the front yard, brilliant, yet subtle.
Another picture perfect view is from the pond. On the weekends, you may find me out in the middle of the pond just floating and staring. On the quiet and still water, the trees and the skies reflect. Between a gap in the ring of forest, you see a glimpse of the school. “Perfect,” that’s the thought I always get.
The expeditions are absolutely amazing. With every day we hike, the earth around us has been changing and still continues to change. During these hikes, we have classes on weather in a meadow or beside a bubbling creek. (How many schools have classrooms outside?)
Once again, I find myself on the balcony, where I first stood 2 months ago. The trees have already shed their green, and are starting to shed the vivid reds, oranges, and yellows, telling me winter is coming. It is a never-ending beauty I will enjoy partaking in for the remainder of this year. Needless to say, I am blessed to be part of this new scene, where I live my life every day.
