The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas is an inspiring novel for all ages. It shows that no matter the situation, one should never give up.
It starts when, main character, Edmond Dantes is accused of a crime he did not commit, and, without a trial, is thrown into prison. Over a decade later, he is still rotting away in his cell when he befriends a fellow prisoner, and together they plan an escape. Only Edmond gets out alive. Following his friend’s instructions, he finds a buried treasure on the island of Monte Cristo, and names himself after the island creating a new identity and beginning a new life.
Years later, he returns to the scene of the crime committed against him, and creates ever-growing mischief among those who betrayed him.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in a thrilling tale of revenge with a sprinkling of romance thrown in.
