Iron Will is a story about Will Stoneman, a 17-year-old boy with a love of dog sledding. When his father fell into an ice-covered river one cold day and drowned, Will was forced to face distorting pressure that would surely change his life. He had to choose to either sell his dogs and pay off his father’s debts, or keep them and enter a 500-mile dog sled race with a small chance of winning the grand prize of $10,000.00.
Along the trail of this great race, from Winnipeg, Canada to St. Paul, Minnesota, Will met both friends and foes, withstood freezing temperatures and exhaustion, and demonstrated heroic bravery, while building a tight bond with his five dogs, and rallying Americans behind him. The further he went on his quest for the grand prize, the more he realized that he was not only doing it for his family and friends, but also for the loyal fans across the country who were supporting him all the way.
This movie touched my heart very much. Will’s determination and courage inspired me to be a stronger person. It showed me how little I have had to endure, and that through even the hardest times, once can still find hope.
