The Patriot, directed by Mel Gibson, is not only an inspiring, one-of-a-kind, film, but is also very educational. The movie portrays realistic values held in 1783 during the Revolutionary War in South Carolina, and also how people acted, lived, fought, and, through superior acting, how they interacted with one another.
The battle scenes are graphic, and Mel Gibson and the other wonderful actors, document a period in history in such a way that I often felt like I was participating in it. The Patriot is a work of fiction so some of the more horrible crimes portrayed were also fictional, but the story takes place against a backdrop of events, which absolutely did happen.
I strongly recommend this outstanding movie, because it provides an educational lesson in history, and will almost certainly leave you feeling more patriotic than before.
