The movie I am writing about, The Scarlet and the Black, was directed by Jerry London and starred Gregory Peck, Christopher Plummer and John Gielgud.
It takes place during World War II, and tells the true story of a Catholic priest, who helped prisoners of war and Jews to escape the Nazis in Italy. He, and others, tried to get the Jews to the Vatican, which, although it is in the city of Rome, which was under Nazi control, had the status of an independent country.

My opinion of the movie is that it is a very good movie, and I recommend it. The part I liked most was learning more about World War II and what the Nazis did to the Jews and what the Jews did about it. I was inspired by watching all the people who put their lives on the line to try and help the Jews, and it made me feel as though I would also want to help them if I could.
