I look at my family, and I know that I love them, but I am afraid that with our views all jumbled together, we will become distant. I want to dedicate this poem, Kin by Carl Sandburg to my family. Mom, I love you. Dad, I love you. Zoe, I love you. Briston (?) I love you. I am different, with different views and thoughts, and I love you.

Brother, I am fire

Surging under the ocean floor.

I shall never meet you brother –

Not for years, anyhow;

Maybe thousands of years, brother.

Then I will warm you,

Hold you close, wrap you in circles,

Use you and change you –

Maybe thousands of years, brother.
